The need for Test and Measurement services arises during Product Development and Qualification or Product Failure Investigations.
When new products are developed both the product performance and the operating conditions are often not known or there is a very wide error margin. Shock Wave Engineering devises and performs the testing required to determine the exact performance and operating conditions. This enables improved product design which increases the performance and reliability and reduces the cost of products. Customers also require documented evidence that the product they are purchasing meets the stated specifications. Shock Wave Engineering performs the testing and provides the documented evidence which manufacturers require to market their products.
Once products reach the market failures do occur. These failures can stem from inadequate design, poor quality control during manufacturing, or use outside of the design envelope. Shock Wave Engineering performs testing on products to determine the root cause of the failure.
In many cases computer models of the product are created. These models are usually Finite Element Models (FEM). The models are used to accelerate the product testing process. However it is critical that the models are validated and the correct input conditions are determined. A large portion of the work performed by Shock Wave Engineering is the provision of the real world validation data and the input conditions.
